Close-Up C2 is an online English course for teenagers with a very high, advanced level of English. The programme challenges students to think in English, analyse real stories and facts, and take part in in-depth discussions on topics from the world around them.
The system includes selected materials, photographs, articles and videos from National Geographic that present a wide range of social, cultural, scientific and public issues. Through them, students develop the ability to use English precisely, flexibly and appropriately for each communicative situation.
The online lessons combine work with complex texts, speaking practice, debates, analysis, listening to authentic materials, writing tasks and individual feedback from the teacher. This way, students perfect not only their grammar and vocabulary but also their ability to express nuanced ideas in the right style and register.
After completing the course, the student will be able to:
- use a rich vocabulary, including idiomatic expressions, phrasal verbs, synonyms, comparisons, metaphors and other expressive devices;
- take part confidently in discussions, conversations and debates on a wide range of topics, including unfamiliar and complex ones;
- choose an appropriate formal style and register for the situation and the person they are speaking to;
- use complex grammar structures correctly and naturally in both spoken and written communication;
- speak with more accurate pronunciation, appropriate stress and natural intonation;
- understand English without difficulty in its various forms – journalistic texts, business correspondence, fiction, interviews, lectures and everyday dialogues;
- recognise linguistic devices and work with long, complex and multi-layered texts from different fields;
- produce high-level texts, including analyses, summaries, essays, letters, reports and reviews;
- listen to and understand lectures, discussions, debates and interviews, picking out specific details as well as main ideas, inferences and conclusions;
- respond spontaneously and confidently in English even in unfamiliar communicative situations.
